The domains are categorized based on their levels. These are as follows:

Top-Level Domains: 

The highest level of domains that are at the top-level in the DNS structure of the internet. There are several different types of TLDs, being: 

  • ccTLD – country code Top Level Domains [Examples: .au, .tv, .uk]
  • gTLD – generic top-level Domain [Examples: .com, .net, .biz, .org]
  • IDN ccTLD – internationalised country code top-level domains [Examples: Latin or special characters]

Second Level:

The combination of gTLD + ccTLD, e.g. .com.au

Third Level:

The difference between second and third level can be a little confusing. For example, hotmail.com is considered a second level domain, but hotmail.com.au would be classed as a third level.

A 2L or 3L domain name is considered highly valuable. It doesn’t mean long domains can’t be premium domains. Length is an important factor, but not the only factor.

Domain names with exact phrases that people used to search on search engines are highly valuable as they become a priority for businesses. The exact word makes their prices go higher.

Uniqueness and Brandability:

One of the other most important factors for making a domain name premium is ‘Brandability.’ A domain name that can be a brand name will become a premium domain. 

Buyer Interest:
